The Co-operative thinking out side the box.
The Co-operative have come up with a little touch of genius! it seems so obvious. Put doors on the fridges!! Rather than going down the renewable route they decided to worry about what the can affect today.
But simply adding doors to all the 100 or so fridges in there stores its estimated to wiped £50,000,000 of there yearly electricity bill.
As well as saving money they are also cutting their carbon footprint and helping the environment. This proves that even one small change in the way they you run your business can save massive amounts of money of your business energy bills.
Matalan have gone all technical
Matalan have chosen to go down the more expensive and technical route of cutting the electricity the business uses by installing wireless technology throughout their one hundred and fifty five stores. They have installed what is called in the industry a Building Energy Management System to each on their stores.
This system will manage their lighting and temperature in the most efficient way. The lights in Matalan offices will turn off when there is no one present in the rooms, and the heating will only turn on when its needed. This will have cost Matalan a large sum to install but they are already reaping in the benefits as they have already saved over £760,000 off their energy bills. Projections show that they should save over £1,700,000 this year on their businesses electricity bills down.
